The experience
You start at Storforsen Hotel with coffee and a safety briefing indoors, then get suited up in the provided overalls before heading outside for a short demonstration on how to operate the snowmobile. Within minutes of leaving the hotel, you're deep in the wilderness, cruising through snowy forests and past frozen rivers and marshes. The guide leads the way and watches the group's pace, slowing down or picking up speed based on who's riding and how comfortable they are.
Along the route you'll stop at viewpoints for a warm drink and traditional Swedish fika: a moment to rest and take in the landscape. Keep an eye out for reindeer, fox, black grouse, capercaillie and moose, which roam these forests in winter. Snowmobiles can be driven solo or shared between two people, and you can switch drivers during the tour if you want to trade off.
The tour ends back at Storforsen Hotel after roughly two and a half hours. Your guide speaks English and Swedish, and the group size varies, so the experience adjusts to who's riding that day.
