Stop where you want, stay as long as you want: your ticket works all day.

A 24-hour hop-on hop-off ticket in Gothenburg lets you ride both a double-decker sightseeing bus and an open boat as many times as you like, getting off at eight bus stops and five boat stops to explore Avenyn, Haga, Feskekôrka, Lilla Bommen and Eriksberg at your own pace. Bus commentary comes through headphones in six languages. The boat guide speaks English and Swedish. A full loop on either route takes around an hour, but you control the stops and the timing.

The experience

The ticket covers two separate routes (one by bus, one by water), so you can mix them however suits your day. The bus route hits eight stops including Slottsskogen Park, Götaplatsen and the Botanical Garden. The boat route covers five stops along the waterfront and through the canals, passing Lilla Bommen and Eriksberg. You board at Kungsportsplatsen near Stora Teatern, the main hub, and can hop off to spend an hour at Feskekôrka Market, browse the shops and cafés of Avenyn, or walk the narrow wooden houses of Haga before catching the next bus or boat.

On the bus, you'll hear commentary through personal headphones. Choose English, German, Spanish, French, Italian or Swedish to match your language. The boat is open-air and comes with live narration in English or Swedish as you cruise past the city's waterfront. Both vehicles are comfortable for a full loop, which takes around an hour each, but since your ticket is valid for 24 hours, you're not racing the clock. You can spend two hours at one stop and thirty minutes at the next.

The boat is not wheelchair accessible, but the bus has a ramp and one designated wheelchair space. Strollers travel on the bus if space allows, though not on the boat. Service animals are welcome. The routes run in all weather, so bring a jacket if the forecast looks uncertain.
