Ninety minutes watching the sky change color over the water.

A sunset sail off St. Maarten aboard the Lambada, a professional sailing vessel, where you drift along the coast toward Long Bay as the sun sets into the Caribbean. The boat carries rum punch, beer, wine and snacks; check-in is at 4:30pm and the sail lasts 90 minutes. Shoes come off at boarding and go into baskets so the deck stays clear.

The Experience

The boat leaves the dock at 4:45pm and heads north along the coast toward Long Bay, straight into the path of the setting sun. You're on the water for the whole thing — no viewing platform or shore stop, just the sail itself and the colors as they happen. The crew handles the rigging while you watch the sky shift from blue to orange to deep red, the light hitting the water in a way that only works at this hour.

Rum punch, beer, wine and sodas are at the bar; the snacks run to crudités, chips with dip, fruit, cheese and baguette. The crew is professional and English-speaking, and the boat is built for this — the Lambada is set up so you can move around and find your angle without getting in the way of the sail. Shoes stay in baskets at the boarding point, which keeps the deck from getting tracked up and gives the whole thing a barefoot, end-of-day feeling.

Check-in opens at 4:30pm and closes 15 minutes before departure. The sail works for any fitness level — you're sitting or standing on a boat, not hiking or climbing. Two departure options run on the same schedule: Friday sails and regular Sunset Sail dates, both with the same 4:30pm check-in.

What’s included

  • Sail aboard the Lambada with a professional English-speaking crew.
  • rum punch, beer, wine and sodas at the bar.
  • snacks including crudités, chips and dip, fresh fruit, cheese and baguette.

Is this one for you?Book this sail if you want to be on the water for the actual sunset rather than watching it from shore — the boat positions you straight into the light and the colors as they shift, and the 90 minutes keeps the timing tight around the hour it matters most.
