The experience

First thing that happened, before I even clipped my helmet, was our guide, Daniel, laughing at my attempt to pronounce “Philipsburg” like a local. He just grinned and said, “You’ll get it by lunchtime.” We started right at the cruise port, weaving out past shops still waking up. The air smelled like sunscreen and bakery bread.
