Spend three hours with a local guide who treats you like a Nevisian, not a tourist.

A private guided tour of Nevis led by a local guide who takes you through Charlestown's historical buildings, the 1643 church of St. Thomas', Alexander Hamilton's birthplace, the therapeutic hot springs at Bath Village, and Pinney's Beach for a swim or lunch. The tour includes soda, beer, and other beverages; an air-conditioned vehicle; and WiFi on board. Children from age one are welcome.

The experience

What separates this from a taxi loop around the island is the guide. You're not just driven past the sights. You're shown what they mean. Charlestown fills the first stop with the national museum, Berkeley's Memorial and St. George's Anglican Church. Then comes St. Thomas', the oldest church in the Caribbean, built in 1643 to serve Jamestown, the island's original capital that no longer exists. The guide walks you through why these places matter to Nevis, not just what they are.

The tour moves to Alexander Hamilton's birthplace, a two-story Georgian building where the man who helped draft the U.S. Constitution and became the first Secretary of the Treasury was born in 1757. Bath Village comes next, where you can still soak in the therapeutic hot springs that made the Bath Hotel, built in 1778, the first luxury hotel in the West Indies. Wealthy guests once sailed from Europe and throughout the Caribbean just for those baths. The hotel itself is gone, but the springs remain.

Pinney's Beach is the last stop, and it's yours to shape. You can swim or sit at Sunshine's Beach Bar, which is known across the island. Lunch is available there if you want it, at your own cost. The whole day runs three hours in an air-conditioned vehicle with drinks and snacks on board, plus WiFi if you need it.

Is this one for you? This is a private tour, so you move at your own pace with a guide who knows the island as a local, not as someone reading from a script. It suits anyone who wants the real story behind the sights instead of a rushed circuit, and who'd rather spend three hours getting to know one person's take on Nevis than a full day in a larger group.
