Fly 445 meters over the river gorge and see the old town from the air

Ziplining in Cuenca is a 15-minute activity where you cross the Hoz del Huécar on Europe's longest urban double zipline, descending 120 meters at roughly 70 km/hour with a parachute brake that lets you take in the Hanging Houses, St. Paul's Bridge and the World Heritage city center. A guide in English or Spanish is on hand. Children from age 7 are welcome, and the weight range is 35–120 kg. All equipment (hull, ropes and harness) is professionally tested.

The experience

You arrive at the launch station and get fitted with a hull, harness and ropes, all tested to the standards of top adventure parks. The guide checks your weight and fit, then walks you to the platform overlooking the Hoz del Huécar gorge. The 445-meter span stretches across the river valley, with the Parador Nacional de Turismo visible on the far side and the old town rising behind it.

When you jump, the parachute brake in your harness kicks in automatically, slowing your descent so you're not plummeting but gliding. The whole crossing takes 35–40 seconds depending on your weight, and you'll hit a top speed around 70 km/hour. As you descend the 120 meters, the Hanging Houses come into view (the medieval buildings that cling to the cliff edge), along with St. Paul's Bridge and the tiled roofs of the historic center. It's the angle most visitors never see.

You land at the arrival station near the Parador, where the guide helps you out of the harness. The whole experience, from fitting to landing, takes about 15 minutes. You can do it solo or as a couple on the same line.

What’s included

  • Professional-grade hull, ropes and harness tested to adventure park standards.
  • guide in English or Spanish.
  • parachute brake system built into the harness.
