The experience

This is Galicia's first and only via ferrata, a short climbing route that fits into a half-day itinerary if you're spending time around San Andrés de Teixido or the Serra da Capelada. You climb with a guide who walks you through the equipment (harness, helmet, gloves, heat sink and rest line), and shows you how to progress safely along the route. The difficulty sits at K2–K3, which means the climbing is manageable but the exposure is real. You're moving across cable bridges and staple crossings with sea and mountain views the whole way.

The route takes about 2 hours and covers three cable bridges, a suspension bridge with steps, and numerous staple crossings. A guide in English or Spanish leads the way, teaching you to clip in and move through each section. Civil liability and accident insurance come with the booking, so the practical side is handled before you start. Moderate physical fitness helps, and you need to be at least 18 years old.
