A self-guided scavenger hunt through Pontevedra's pedestrian old town, where you download an app, enter a game code and follow riddles from one landmark to the next. You'll circle the scallop-shaped Capela da Virxe Peregrina, linger under the arcades of Praza da Ferraría, and work through photo tasks and trivia across Praza Méndez Núñez. No guide joins you. You move at your own pace and take breaks whenever you want.

The experience

You start at Praza de España by the town hall, download the Explorial app to your phone, enter a six-digit game code sent by text, and step into the hunt. The riddles pull you forward through streets designed for walking: no cars, no crowds rushing past. Each puzzle ties to a real landmark: the Capela da Virxe Peregrina, shaped like a pilgrim's scallop shell and marking the Portuguese Way to Santiago, opens the game with shell-themed clues. Trivia settles you under the arcades of Praza da Ferraría, where the whole city seems to gather and camellias bloom beside the church of San Francisco. Granite crosses, noble houses and café tables frame the next set of challenges on Praza Méndez Núñez.

The app keeps you oriented with a live map showing marked locations, so you always know where you are. You compete against other players in your group and chase the city's high score. Photo tasks ask you to capture moments, not just find them. Around two hours of light walking, but the pace is entirely yours: linger as long as you want, take breaks, skip ahead if a puzzle stalls you. The game ends when the last clue falls, and you're free to celebrate the Galician way with something small, salty and delicious nearby.

Available in 24 languages including English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Choose your language when you start. Groups up to 15 people book as one. Larger parties make multiple bookings. You'll need a fully charged smartphone with active mobile data: no VPN or city Wi-Fi, as they cause the app to disconnect. If bad weather or illness stops you before you start, reschedule for another day, switch to a different city, or request a refund.
