Step-by-step itinerary
Cable car ride and castle visit
- Board Montjuïc cable car
- Enjoy panoramic city and sea views
- Explore Montjuïc castle and learn history
The experience
The cable car climbs from the lower station straight up the slope of Montjuïc, and the city opens out below as you rise. From the castle at the top, you see across Barcelona's roofline to the Mediterranean, and the port spreads out below. The same view the Iberians had from this spot centuries ago. The fort itself stands more than 170 metres above sea level, built into the hillside that Barcelona calls its green lung.
The cabins are built to hold up to eight people, which means families and small groups ride together instead of splitting across separate cars. Infants can stay in a pram or stroller for the journey, and children must be with an adult. The cable car runs throughout the day, and public transport stops are nearby if you're coming from elsewhere in the city. Every surface and area is accessible for wheelchairs, and the cabins themselves are designed so you can board and ride without barriers.
