Experience your first scuba dive in Menorca with a friendly local guide. Learn basic skills at a small dive school before exploring a quiet cove together for 30–40 minutes underwater. Includes private transport and all equipment — plus those little moments you’ll remember long after you dry off.
“Just breathe slow — like you’re napping underwater,” Jordi said, handing me the mask. I’d never put on so much gear before; the wetsuit was tighter than I expected, and I could smell the faint rubber mixed with sea air. We’d met at the little dive school near the port, filled out some forms (I always forget my birthdate when I’m nervous), and then Jordi walked us through what to expect. He switched between Spanish and English without missing a beat — even cracked a joke about how clumsy everyone looks their first time. It helped.
The drive to the cove was short, maybe fifteen minutes? The windows were down and you could hear cicadas buzzing over the sound of Jordi’s playlist (some Catalan pop song I still can’t get out of my head). When we got there, the water looked almost too clear — you could see pebbles shifting under tiny waves. Getting into the water with all that equipment felt awkward at first, but once we started descending, everything slowed down. There’s this weird silence underwater except for your own breathing — kind of meditative. Fish darted past us, yellow and blue flashes, and Jordi pointed out a sea cucumber that looked like it belonged on another planet.
I lost track of time down there; it was probably closer to 40 minutes but felt shorter. Coming back up, I remember tasting salt on my lips and feeling oddly proud — not just for doing it, but for sharing those glances with the others in our group when we surfaced. Back at the school, we laughed about who kicked up more sand or who panicked for a second (me). I didn’t expect to feel so light after carrying all that weight around — funny how that works.
