Paddle past caves, swim in the bay, paddle back

Kayak and snorkel from Sant Elm, a fishing village on Mallorca's northwest coast, paddling three hours to Cala en Tió and back. You get kayak, paddles, life vest, snorkel gear and water shoes; a guide in English, Spanish or German stays with you the whole way, teaches you about Dragonera island and its history, and brings you safely back to shore. No experience needed, and the route adjusts if weather turns.

The Experience

Sant Elm sits in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, and the kayak launches from there. You paddle along the coast past Punta de na Galinda toward Cala en Tió, passing sea caves as you go. The guide tells you about Dragonera island—its history, the plants and animals that live there—while you move through the water at your own pace. A life vest and waterproof bag come with you; water shoes protect your feet on the rocks.

The bay at Cala en Tió is where the day opens up. You have time to swim or snorkel in water clear enough to see what lives below. The guide stays nearby. After the break, you paddle back to Sant Elm the way you came, arriving three hours after you started.

No qualifications are required. Before you push off, the guide gives a safety briefing and walks you through the equipment. Children from age two can come along in specialized infant seats. The route may shift if weather changes, and the guide will work with you to find an alternative that still works.

What’s included

Kayak, paddles, life vest, waterproof bag, water shoes and snorkel equipment; safety briefing and guide in English, Spanish or German for the full three hours.
