The experience
You start at the meeting point with your guide and get fitted into a neoprene suit, harness and helmet. The guide walks you through the safe rappelling technique before you head into the canyon. The route itself doesn't demand complex climbing skills (it's built for people new to canyoning), so you move at a steady pace through the Guadalmina River landscape, crossing at a narrow point and swimming through sections of the canyon.
Along the way you encounter a series of jumps, all optional, ranging up to 5 meters high. A 4-meter rappel wall comes later in the route. The guide stops partway through to hand out snacks and drinks so you can catch your breath. At the end, your guide gives you video and photos from a GoPro to take home, and you head back to the meeting point.
The whole activity runs about 3 hours. You'll need to arrange your own transport to Estepona (transfers are available separately), and the minimum age is 10. The tour operates in English, Spanish and French, and all the safety gear, insurance and permits are included in the price.
