The Experience

The day starts with a hotel pickup and drive to one of five launch sites—Igualada, Manresa, Vic, Alp or Verges—chosen based on wind direction that morning. You arrive to watch the balloon being inflated, then step into the basket with your group alone. The flight lasts an hour, climbing to heights of up to 3,000 feet as you drift over the landscape below. From the air you see Montserrat's jagged peaks, the Pre-Pyrenees around Vic, the full Pyrenees range from Alp, or the Mediterranean coast and Costa Brava from Verges, depending on which site you launch from.

Once you land, the crew packs the balloon while you step out onto solid ground. That's when the Champagne or wine comes out, along with biscuits, and you receive your personal flight certificate marking the flight. The operator also hands over a photo story—a collection of images from your time in the air. The return journey takes you back to your hotel or directly to the train station, so the whole experience runs 3 to 5 hours from pickup to drop-off.

Contact the operator two days before to confirm your exact meeting time and launch location; they speak English, Spanish, French and Catalan. Wear casual clothes and flat shoes—no heels. The basket is not wheelchair accessible unless you arrange it in advance, and the flight is not recommended for pregnant travelers.
