Ziplining in Ceres: 8 slides above the Koekedouw River
The highest point hangs 40 meters above the ground.
Ziplining in Ceres is an eight-slide course above the Koekedouw River in the Skurweberg Mountains, just 90 minutes from Cape Town. You're fitted with a full body harness and state-of-the-art braking system, then guided by two trained instructors across slides ranging from 100 to 291 meters. The tour takes around an hour to 90 minutes depending on group size, with views over the Ceres Valley and the town below.
The experience
You arrive at the meeting point and get kitted up in a full body harness with the operator's patented braking system. From there, a short drive, about 5km, takes you up into the Skurweberg Mountains through the town of Ceres and into the foothills. A brief walk from the drop-off leads to the first slide, where the view opens across the valley and the town below. This is where the course begins.
The eight slides vary in length, the shortest at 100 meters and the longest at 291 meters, with the highest point 40 meters above ground. Two fully trained guides accompany you through the course, managing pace and safety. Bottled water is included during and after the tour. The whole experience runs between one and 90 minutes depending on how many people are in your group.
Departures run at 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm, so you can fit this into a morning or afternoon away from Cape Town without losing a full day. The activity suits all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries, cardiovascular concerns or pregnancy, and there's a weight limit of 120kg.
