The experience
The walk starts atop the ancient cliffs and traces how humans came to live and thrive here over millennia. Your guide carries artefacts (Stone Age tools, Khoisan objects) that you handle as the stories unfold. You'll taste wild honey and sip honeybush tea the way early inhabitants did, explore the Fynbos plants used as traditional medicine, and listen for whale calls and seabirds that still inhabit the bay. The coastal air, the ocean meeting the land, and the myths told as the wind carries them are part of the experience itself, not a backdrop.
The 2 hours move through layers of time: the Stone Age origins where art, language and medicine were born; the arrival of colonials at the Cape; shipwrecks and the heroes of those stories. Kids find it playful and immersive: no museum walls, just the cliffs and the objects in your hands. The guide speaks English and shapes the walk around what you want to know, so the pace and focus shift with your questions.
