Aerial Cable Trail in Hazyview: Glide over the Sabie River forest
Glide across a canopy of platforms and see the forest floor drop away below you
The Aerial Cable Trail in Hazyview is a zipline activity where you glide between 10 elevated platforms strung across a natural forested valley adjacent to Kruger National Park, with each section ranging from 70 to 230 meters. A qualified guide escorts your group of up to 8 participants, and the whole experience takes about two and a half hours from meeting point to return. Children from age 3 are welcome, though those under 10 may need assistance; the maximum weight is 120kg per person.
The Experience
You meet at Perry's Bridge Trading Post in Hazyview to complete paperwork and get fitted with your helmet and harness. After a safety briefing, transport takes you to the start of the trail, where the first platform sits above the Sabie River valley. The trail itself stretches 1.2km total, broken into sections that vary in length—some short hops of 70 meters, others long glides of 230 meters—linking the 10 platforms as you descend into the basin. Each stop gives you time to take in the natural vegetation, watch for birdlife, and look down at the forest floor below before moving to the next section.
The equipment has been designed specifically for this activity and built to South African civil engineering standards. Your guide stays with the group throughout, managing the pace and handling any questions about what you're seeing or how the system works. Bottled water is provided during the trail to keep you hydrated between platforms. Once you've completed all 10 sections, transport brings you back to Perry's Bridge Centre, where restaurants and shops are available if you want to grab food or a souvenir afterward.
Advanced booking is recommended, and the operator offers several departure times throughout the day—early morning slots like 8:30am or 9am, midday options around 12:30pm or 1pm, and afternoon departures at 2:30pm or 3pm. Groups of up to 8 can depart together on scheduled trips; larger parties can be split across multiple departures or arranged as team-building events with special pricing.
