The experience
The session starts with 20 to 30 minutes of introduction and basic training at the target range, where you get comfortable handling the bow and arrows with an instructor's guidance. You'll wear an arm guard and shooting glove (everything is provided), and the instructor walks you through stance, aim and release until you're ready to move into the forest.
Once you've got the basics down, your guide takes you into the natural ravine and along the 3D archery trail through indigenous forest. Instead of a stationary range, you're moving between foam targets shaped like animals and game, each one positioned at different distances and angles. Every shot gets scored, and the instructor tracks the results as you work through the course. By the end, there's a winner, and everyone leaves with a certificate showing their final score.
You'll also receive video and photos from the session, so you have a record of the day. The whole experience runs 1.5 hours, and you can choose either the 9am or noon departure to fit your schedule in Plettenberg Bay.
