Slide down natural rock slides, jump into clear pools, and rappel a 12m waterfall for a true canyon adventure.

Canyoning at Sušec Canyon near Bovec is a guided activity where you rappel a 12-meter waterfall, slide down natural rock formations and jump 3–7 meters into clear pools. The experience runs about three hours, includes all equipment (neoprene, helmet, harness, shoes), transport to the canyon and free photos sent to your email afterward. A live English-speaking guide leads groups of mixed fitness levels, and anyone uncomfortable with a particular section can walk around it instead.

The experience

You start at the base where you collect your canyoning gear (neoprene suit, helmet, harness and shoes), then ride ten minutes by van to the canyon entrance. A twenty-minute walk up the hillside brings you to the mouth of Sušec Gorge, where the canyon itself begins. From there you spend roughly ninety minutes moving downstream: the water has carved natural slides into the rock that you actually use, you jump into pools between one and six meters deep, and you walk sections where the canyon floor is too narrow or the water too shallow to move through it. The finale is the twelve-meter waterfall, which you descend by rappelling rather than jumping or sliding.

The guides build in time for multiple runs on the slides if you want them, and jumping is optional. You can wade or swim the pools instead. If any part of the canyon doesn't appeal to you, a walking route around it exists. After you finish, the van takes you back to the base or your pickup location, where toilets and showers are available. Photos and videos from the day get sent to your email at no extra cost.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (15 to 17 years); Child (8 to 14 years). Children under 8 can't be included in the booking.

Can I do parts of the canyon and skip others?

Yes. If you don't want to jump, rappel or slide, you can walk around those sections and still experience the canyon with the group. The guide will show you the alternative routes.

What's the water like in Sušec Canyon?

The pools are clear and cold: fed by the stream that carved the canyon. You'll be in a neoprene suit, which keeps you warm. Water depth in the jumping pools ranges from one to six meters, and the canyon floor is rocky, so water shoes are essential.

How fit do I need to be?

You need at least a moderate level of fitness. The activity includes a twenty-minute uphill walk to the entry point, ninety minutes moving through the canyon, and repeated climbing in and out of pools. The guides can adjust the pace, but this isn't a leisurely walk.

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, swimming ability is required. You'll be in water throughout the canyon, and even sections you walk around involve water crossings.

What happens if I'm nervous about the rappelling?

Rappelling the twelve-meter waterfall is the final section. You're fully harnessed and the guide controls your descent. If you're uncomfortable, you can walk around this part too. There's an alternative route down.

Will I actually get the photos?

Yes. The guides shoot photos and video during the activity and email them to you free of charge after the experience.
