The experience

The tour runs 2.5 hours and moves at a pace that lets you actually see what you're riding past. You start with the Dragon Bridge, an Art Nouveau landmark tied to the legend of Jason and the Argonauts, then wind through the old town's colorful houses and narrow streets. The farmers market (part of it designed by Plečnik himself) shows up early, followed by stops at the Cathedral, Town Hall (where Ljubljana's mayors have been appointed for 500 years), and Cobblers' Bridge, one of the oldest spans in the city and later redesigned by the same architect whose work shapes so much of what you'll see.

The route takes you past Roman walls from when Ljubljana was called Emona, then to Congress Square with views of Ljubljana Castle and the Ursuline Church.
