The Experience

The tour runs 2.5 hours and moves at a pace that lets you actually see what you're riding past. You start with the Dragon Bridge, an Art Nouveau landmark tied to the legend of Jason and the Argonauts, then wind through the old town's colorful houses and narrow streets. The route takes you past Roman walls from when Ljubljana was called Emona, then to Congress Square with views of Ljubljana Castle and the Ursuline Church. You'll see Republic Square's brutalist towers and parliament building—architecture that tells the story of post-World War Two Yugoslavia—before reaching Prešeren Square, the main square named after a poet whose unrequited love inspired some of Slovenia's most famous literature. Metelkova Autonomous Zone is the turn toward something completely different.
