The Rock Pool is not marked on most maps, and most visitors to Mahé never find it. A private guide picks you up at a time and place you choose, drives to the trailhead, and leads you on an easy hour-long hike through the island. The path itself shows you a good deal of Mahé on the way. The real draw is what waits at the end.

The pool sits in a rocky basin, and on calm days when the sea is shallow enough, you can jump in from about 3–4 meters high into roughly 10 meters of water. If jumping does not appeal, you swim, wade, photograph or simply sit and absorb the quiet of the place. You get up to an hour here before the hike back.
