The experience
The sailboat leaves from the Guayama Fishing Club docks in the town of Guayama, about an hour's drive south from San Juan through the Cordillera Central mountain range. Departure time shifts with the sunset hours, so the operator confirms your exact time once you book. The 36-foot sailboat holds up to six passengers and is crewed by a USCG Captain and first mate who know the bay's secluded spots.
Once you're on the water, the activity is yours to shape. You can take the helm if you want to sail, or settle into the comfort of a private outing and watch the light change across the bay. Snorkeling equipment is on board if the water calls to you. The protected waters of Jobos Bay stay calm enough for the full two hours, and since you're the only group aboard, there's no schedule pressure. You set the pace.
Bring whatever food and drinks you want to enjoy during the sail. The crew will not provide a meal, but the privacy means you can make the sunset exactly what you want it to be. A guide fluent in English or Spanish is included, so questions about the bay, the wildlife or the landscape get answered as you go.

Is this one for you? This is a private sail, so you and your group have the boat and crew to yourselves: ideal if you want the sunset without sharing the moment or the space. The two-hour window is tight enough to fit into an afternoon but long enough to feel unhurried once you're on the water.
