The experience
You meet at Benagil Beach and launch on a premium, high-stability board: no paddling experience needed. The guide will have you standing in about ten minutes. The paddle itself takes 90 minutes of ocean time, and the route moves through exclusive natural rock tunnels and secluded coves that larger tour boats cannot reach. You'll slip into Benagil Cathedral in the early quiet, before the commercial boats and their crowds arrive, then continue past fossil-studded cliffs and hidden beaches only accessible by water.
The boards are built for stability: you can sit, kneel or stand depending on your comfort. A certified instructor stays with the group, and everyone wears a life vest and has access to a waterproof dry bag for phones and keys. The guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese and shares stories about the Algarve's geology and local history as you paddle: the kind of detail that doesn't make it into the standard cave tours.
When you're done, the operator sends you free 8K GoPro photos and video footage of your time on the water, so you leave your phone on land and avoid the plastic-bag gamble. Groups stay small, which means no megaphones and no paddling in a conga line behind other tourists.

What exactly is Benagil Cathedral and why is it worth paddling to?
