The Experience

The car leaves Lisbon around 6am and takes the motorway straight to Porto. No station waits, no luggage sits in a locker, no timetable decides when you leave. Seven hours on the ground means you climb the Clérigos Tower first thing, stand at the top and see the city spread below you, then walk down into the medieval Ribeira where the streets narrow and the Douro opens up ahead. The Sé Cathedral cloister comes next—stone arches, quiet, admission already paid.

Lunch is yours to choose, though your guide knows where locals eat. After that, the Standard option takes you to Livraria Lello. The queue outside often wraps around the block; you walk straight in.
