The Experience

You board at Funchal Marina for a safety briefing, then the catamaran heads out along Madeira's south coast. The crew begins their search using binoculars equipped with a compass, scanning for dolphins, whales and other marine life. A qualified guide narrates what you're seeing—the species, behavior, and the technical details that turn sightings into understanding. The boat moves at a pace that lets you watch without rushing, and the catamaran's size means the ride stays comfortable even when the Atlantic has a swell.

During summer months, if the weather and sea conditions cooperate, you'll stop to swim in the waters below Cabo Girão, one of the world's highest sea cliffs at 580 meters. The crew decides whether conditions are safe enough; when they are, you get time in the water below that vertical wall of rock. Bring a towel and bathing suit if you want to take the plunge. A WC is available on board throughout the trip.

Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed—you're watching animals in their own habitat, not a display. If the trip ends without dolphin or whale sightings, the operator offers you a complimentary return cruise on a date and time of your choice within a year, so you get another chance when conditions might be different.
