The experience

The experience opens with a guided walk through the vineyard itself, where the operator explains Algarve Gourmet's philosophy, the region's terroir and the Mediterranean influences that shape the local food. You move into the tasting room, which overlooks the vines, and that's where the live showcooking begins: a chef prepares four gourmet regional tapas using fresh seasonal ingredients right in front of you, one dish at a time. Each one is paired with an Algarve wine chosen to match it, creating what the operator calls a tasting journey rather than a simple pour-and-sip.

Traditional Portuguese music plays throughout, setting a relaxed pace that lets you linger over each pairing instead of rushing through. The guide speaks English, Portuguese or Spanish depending on the group, and walks you through what you're tasting: why the wine works with the dish, what the ingredients are, how they connect to the region. Water is included. If anyone in your group doesn't drink wine, you choose an alternative when you book (fresh lemonade, juice of the day, sparkling water or still water). Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice for an additional €15 per person, paid on site.

At the end, you have the option to buy wines or regional products to take home. If you book a private tour with transport, pickup is included from your hotel in Lagos, Portimão or Carvoeiro. Without transport, you arrange your own arrival at the vineyard. Shared departures run without transport, so you'll need to get there independently.
