A 2-hour paddleboarding tour through Benagil's sea caves and surrounding coastline near Lagoa, where you explore natural arches, tunnels, hidden beaches and rock formations accessible only by water. A certified instructor teaches you paddling basics on the beach, then guides you through the route in a small group; your board, life jacket, leash and insurance are included, as are photos of the experience.

The Experience

You start on the beach with a certified instructor who walks you through the basics—how to paddle, how to balance, the safety points—before anyone gets on the water. The lesson takes the pressure off; by the time you're paddling out, you know what to do. The tour itself runs about two hours, and the whole coastline is the route: the famous Algar de Benagil with its hole in the roof is there, but it's one stop among many. Tunnels cut through the rock. Natural arches frame the water. Some caves are deep enough to paddle inside for a few minutes and float in the quiet.

The operator keeps groups small and moves at a relaxed pace, which means you're not racing between stops. Deserted beaches appear where the cliffs drop straight into the sea. Rock formations rise in shapes that look almost carved. Everything here is only reachable from the water—no hiking trail, no road, no viewpoint from above.
