The Experience

The class runs 2 hours with a private instructor who meets you and builds the lesson around your level. Beginners start in the shallows learning how to paddle, pop up and balance on the board—the coach stays close and shows you the motion, then watches while you try. If you're intermediate, you'll work on technique in the lineup, catching green waves and reading the water with the guide beside you.

All gear is included: board, wetsuit and everything else you need to get in the water. The instructor speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or another language depending on the booking, so you follow the instruction without translation lag. Groups stay under 8 people, which means the coach has time to watch your form and correct it rather than shouting directions at a crowd.

Almada sits across the water from Lisbon and has public transport nearby if you're coming from the city. The class is wheelchair accessible, and children from age 6 can join as long as an adult is with them. Souvenir photos are available to purchase after the session if you want a record of the day.
