The Experience

The first thing I noticed was the quiet—like everyone’s words got caught in their throat as we stepped off the minibus near Oświęcim. Our driver Marek had barely said a word since leaving Krakow’s Old Town, just pointed out Zakrzówek’s blue water as we passed. I guess nobody really knows what to say on a day trip to Auschwitz from Krakow. Even the air felt different, colder maybe, or maybe that was just me.
