Take the reins of a sled team and feel the snow beneath the runners.

Dog sledding in Poland puts you behind a team of Siberian Huskies and Norwegian Elkhounds on a 3km winter ride where you learn to navigate the sled, take turns mushing and riding, and spend time with the dogs. The guide speaks English or Polish and provides helmets. The full experience runs two hours. In case of no snow, the activity takes place on a rig on muddy ground.

The experience

You'll meet the dogs before you run (Norwegian Elkhounds and Siberian Huskies with distinct personalities), and your guide will walk you through how to work with them: how to position them on the team, how to navigate and control the sled, and what each dog does in harness. Then you'll take turns. One person handles the reins while the other rides as a passenger, and you'll switch roles so both of you get to feel what it's like to mush. The guide stays with you the whole time, teaching as you go.

The ride covers 3km through snow, and you'll have time to cuddle the dogs during the outing. Helmets are provided for safety. Bring warm winter clothing: dog sledding is an extreme sport and the wind and speed mean you need to come prepared. If there's no snow when you arrive, the activity runs on a rig on muddy ground instead, so the experience happens either way.
