The experience

The tour starts with an afternoon pickup from your hotel. You'll travel roughly 20 kilometers south to Iwahig Eco Park, the original firefly watching site in Puerto Princesa and the one with the highest concentration of fireflies in their natural habitat. Once you arrive, the firefly watching begins as darkness falls: thousands of them light up across the riverbanks in what the operator calls a natural display of twinkling lights. The boat ride itself lasts the core of the experience, with the full outing running between two and four hours depending on traffic and how long you spend on the water.

Iwahig Eco Park is set up specifically to preserve fireflies in their environment, which is why the watching here differs from other spots in the city. Your guide will be with you throughout, speaking English or Filipino. If you want to eat before or after the boat ride, a buffet dinner is served onsite and can be added to your booking at checkout. It's not automatic, so you choose whether to include it. After the tour ends, your driver brings you back to your hotel. The van is air-conditioned, and parking fees are covered.
