The experience
You start at Bambike HQ inside Casa Manila, where you fill out a waiver and pick your bike (the operator offers several designs, including the signature Ligtasin Cove beach cruiser and Victoria City models), so you ride something that fits you. A guide leads the small group through the walled city's main gates, plazas and fortifications, explaining the Spanish colonial strategy that shaped the walls and the Chinese influence that marked the city's trade history. Fort Santiago, the largest stop, sits like a park inside the walls. You have room to ride and explore its grounds at a pace that lets the history settle.
The route passes Casa Manila, a reconstruction of a Spanish-era house; the Manila Cathedral, the centerpiece of a major plaza; and several of Intramuros's public squares. Around the time the light starts to turn, the group rides to Bayleaf Hotel's Sky Deck for a 360-degree view of Manila's sunset. Cold drinks arrive while you watch. After that, you return to Bambike HQ, where cold towels wait.

Is this one for you?The small group format (5 to 15 riders with a guide) suits someone who wants to move through the city at a conversational pace and learn the history of each stop without cycling alone or managing a large tour crowd. The fixed sunset timing means you end the day at the viewpoint when the light is best, so the timing does the planning for you.
