The experience
The boat leaves from your hotel and heads straight to Kayangan Lake, the freshwater lake known as Asia's cleanest. The climb is 350 steps to reach it, but the payoff is limestone mountains rising around emerald-colored water so clear you can see straight down. From there you move to Barracuda Lake, a shorter walk of 40 steps over jagged rock that opens directly onto water where fresh, salt and brackish layers meet underwater, creating temperature shifts that divers seek out. The Twin Lagoon is where warm seawater meets pure subterranean water, and the contrast is visible at the surface.
The snorkeling stops include Lusong Coral Garden and the Twin Peaks reef, where giant clams sit scattered across branching coral formations and fish of all sizes move through the water. Skeleton Wreck, a 25-meter Japanese supply ship from World War II, rests at depths between 5 and 22 meters and draws snorkelers to its hull. Banul Beach, with white sand and brilliant blue water, is where lunch happens under cottages. You get two bottled waters per person and a meal included. The boat carries snorkeling gear and towels, a Bluetooth speaker, an ice cooler, and enough shade on the lower deck that you don't have to stay in the sun between stops.
What sets this boat apart is the direct docking at each site. Smaller island-hopping tours transfer passengers to skipper boats for the final approach, adding time and hassle. This double-decker stays put, so you step straight from the boat onto the beach or into the water. The upper deck is open to the sun for sunbathing. The lower deck has sofas and shade. The whole day runs nine hours from pickup to drop-off.
