The experience

The tour starts with a morning pickup from your Cusco hotel. You drive into the Sacred Valley, stopping first at a textile and llama rescue center where you meet local weavers and learn about natural dyeing, then climb to the Taray lookout for photographs of the valley winding below. At Pisac, your guide walks you through the agricultural terraces carved into the mountainside: the precision of the stonework and the scale of the engineering become clear once you're standing on them. Late afternoon you board the Vistadome Train at Ollantaytambo.
