- Learn Inca history and stories
- Enjoy viewpoints and photo opportunities
The experience
You arrive in Aguas Calientes with your train ticket and entrance pass already in hand. Your guide meets you at your hotel, the train station, or directly at the Machu Picchu gate: no waiting around for a group to assemble. From town, the 30-minute bus ride climbs to the citadel. Once there, you have roughly 2–3 hours to move through the site. The operator suggests Circuit 2 as the best route through temples, royal palaces and terraces, with Circuit 3 as a backup if that's sold out.
Because this is a private tour, you control the rhythm. Want to spend twenty minutes photographing one terrace, or linger at a viewpoint while your guide explains Inca engineering and astronomy? You ask, and the visit shifts. Your guide shares stories about the citadel's construction and its rediscovery, but the focus stays on what you want to understand. You're not herded through. You're walked through by someone who knows the place and can answer the questions that come up as you stand in front of it.
After the tour ends, you can return to Aguas Calientes or continue onward to Cusco. The guide service ends at the site. Everything else (the bus ticket up, the entrance fee, your onward transport). You arrange separately or bring with you.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 16 years); Child (2 to 5 years); Infant (under 2).
Can I book a guide if I already have my entrance ticket and train ticket?
Yes. This service is built for travelers who have their own tickets and just need an expert to help them make sense of the site. You bring your entrance pass and bus ticket. The guide meets you and leads the visit.
What happens if I want to spend more time at one part of Machu Picchu?
You set the pace. If you want to stay longer at the temples or spend extra time at a viewpoint, your guide adjusts the route. The 2–3 hour window is typical, but how you use it is up to you.
Where does the guide meet me, and what if I'm staying outside Aguas Calientes?
Your guide meets you at your hotel in Aguas Calientes, at the train station, or directly at the main entrance to Machu Picchu. If you're staying elsewhere, arrange pickup at one of those three points.
Are the entrance ticket and bus ticket included?
No. You need to purchase your Machu Picchu entrance ticket and the bus ticket from Aguas Calientes to the citadel separately before the tour begins.
