The experience

The thermal baths themselves are the draw here. These are completely natural pools fed by hot water flowing down from the Andes: no artificial heating, no chemicals. The mineral composition is what makes the water work: it's been used for centuries to treat rheumatic disorders, fractures, bone and joint pain, muscle soreness and stomach ailments. You spend the day in and around these outdoor pools, soaking at your own pace while taking in the valley landscape around you.

A bilingual guide meets you at your hotel and handles the drive in an air-conditioned vehicle. They provide context about the springs and the valley itself as you go. You get shower towels, priority access so you're not waiting in line, and all admission fees and permits are covered upfront. The whole experience runs about 10 hours from pickup to return.

You can book this as a small group or as a private experience. The main difference is whether you're soaking alongside other travelers or with just your party. Either way, a minimum of two people per booking is required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. If you want to stay overnight at the hot springs instead, there's an additional charge of USD 50 per person for accommodation, food and equipment.
