The experience
The day starts with a drive from Bergen toward Gudvangen, with stops at waterfalls along the way. You'll reach Tvindefossen, a 110-meter cascade near Voss that sits close enough to the main road to photograph easily. From there the route continues to the Flåm Railway station at Myrdal, where you board the train for the descent to Flåm: a 45-minute ride through 20 tunnels with views of waterfalls and mountain farms. The train stops briefly at Kjosfossen waterfall so you can step out and see it up close.
After arriving in Flåm, you drive to Stegastein viewpoint, a platform built in 2006 that sits high enough to frame the fjord and surrounding peaks in a single frame. It's one of the most photographed spots in the region and sits along the National Tourist Road. From there you return to Flåm to board the 2-hour electric fjord cruise on Nærøyfjord, a narrow waterway between towering cliffs where the vessel passes steep-sided farms and waterfalls. The cruise ends at Gudvangen, and your guide drives you back to Bergen, roughly 90 minutes, where the tour concludes at your hotel, port or airport.
Your guide speaks English and manages all the logistics: transport between stops, train tickets and timing. The group stays small enough that the pace feels unhurried. Children from age 5 are welcome, and infants can travel in a pram or specialized seat.
