Summary

Moroccan Desert Dinner & Camel Trekking at Sunset

If you want to swap city noise for desert calm—even just for an evening—this tour’s for you. Ride camels at sunset, eat real Moroccan food by firelight, and see the stars like you never have before.

experience

What’s the experience like?

Leaving the city behind, we watched the buildings fade into open land, the air picking up that dry, earthy scent you only get outside Marrakech. Our driver chatted about his favorite football team as we bumped along the last bit of road toward Agafay. The sun was already dipping low, painting everything gold. When we arrived, the camels were waiting—quiet, with those sleepy eyes. Climbing up felt a bit wobbly at first, but you get used to their slow, rolling walk pretty quickly.

The desert here isn’t endless sand, but rocky and wild, with little tufts of grass. Our guide, Youssef, pointed out tiny lizards darting between stones. The silence was something else—just the soft thud of camel feet and the wind. After about half an hour, we stopped on a ridge. The sky turned orange and pink, and honestly, it felt like time slowed down for a minute.

Back at camp, someone handed me a glass of mint tea—hot, sweet, with that fresh snap of mint leaves. Dinner was served around a small fire: tagine bubbling away, warm bread, and these honey-soaked pastries I’d never tried before. There was music too—just a couple of guys with drums and a lute, nothing fancy but it fit the mood. After eating, I wandered off for a bit. The stars came out fast. You don’t see skies like that back in the city. Eventually, our driver rounded us up for the trip back to Marrakech. My shoes were full of dust and I didn’t mind one bit.
