This is your chance to wander through UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou with a private guide, step inside Ouarzazate’s legendary kasbahs, and share lunch at a local spot. Enjoy cool pool time in summer and discover stories hidden in every corner—at your own pace.
Our guide waved us over just as the sun started to warm the mudbrick walls of Ait Ben Haddou. The village felt almost silent except for the soft crunch of our shoes on dusty paths and the distant call to prayer drifting from somewhere behind the hills. We ducked into shadowy alleys where cool air clung to the old stones, and every turn seemed to reveal another story—our guide pointed out tiny handprints pressed into the clay centuries ago by builders whose names are long forgotten.
We made our way to Ouarzazate next, passing a few kids kicking a ball near the old synagogue. The Kasbah Taourirt stood tall, its faded pink walls catching the light in a way that made them look almost golden. Inside, I ran my hand along carved wooden doors and listened as our guide explained how families once lived here together—each room with its own secrets. If you’re lucky enough to visit when it’s open, don’t miss the view from upstairs; you can see rooftops stretching all the way to the edge of town.
Lunch was a welcome break. We sat at a shaded table in a restaurant chosen by our hosts—plates of slow-cooked lamb and fresh bread appeared before we even asked. In summer, there’s a pool nearby where some of us dipped our feet while waiting for dessert. Nobody rushed us; even when someone wanted to stop at a small shop for souvenirs, our guide just smiled and said we had all the time we needed.
The tour usually takes most of the day—expect around 6-8 hours including travel time between sites and lunch.
