You’ll walk with nomads, sleep under Saharan stars, and see Morocco’s wildest dunes up close. This trek is about slowing down, sharing simple moments, and discovering what it’s like to live in the desert—even just for a few days.
Camels grumbled softly as we loaded up just after sunrise, the air still cool and a little dusty. Our guide, Youssef, handed out scarves—he showed us how to wrap them against the wind. The first steps felt surreal, sand crunching underfoot, the horizon wide open. There’s a rhythm to walking here; you start to notice how your own breathing matches the slow sway of the caravan. Every so often, we’d pass a lone acacia tree or spot tiny lizards darting between rocks. By midday, we’d stop in the shade for mint tea and fresh bread—simple food tastes different when you’re hungry from walking.
Nights in the bivouac were something else. The team set up camp while we watched the sky turn pink and then deep blue. Dinner was always hearty—tagine bubbling over coals, laughter mixing with the crackle of firewood. I remember lying back on my mattress, wrapped in a thick blanket, listening to the wind and nothing else. On the third day, climbing Chegaga’s dunes at sunset felt like reaching another planet. Sand everywhere, gold and orange, and not a single sound except our own voices echoing off the slopes.
The last morning, a 4x4 came for us—suddenly the trek was over in hours instead of days. Back at camp, hot showers felt like luxury. We shared one last meal together before saying goodbye, sand still clinging to our shoes and memories.
You should be comfortable walking about 5 hours a day on sand and uneven ground. It’s not a race—our pace is relaxed—but some stamina helps.
Showers are only available back at the bivouac on the last day. During the trek, we use water sparingly and focus on simple desert living.
Yes, all meals are included. Let us know your dietary needs when you book—we’ll do our best to accommodate them with local ingredients.
