The experience

Pickup starts at 8:00 a.m. from your Fez hotel. The drive to Chefchaouen takes you into the Rif Mountains, and when you arrive the blue walls of the medina come into view. Your guide meets you there and stays with you for the day, but the 4 hours you spend in the city are unscheduled. You decide whether to climb to the rooftop terraces for panoramic views, duck into the side streets, or sit in Place Outa el-Hammam with a coffee.

The medina holds three museums if you want them: the Kasbah, the Great Mosque, and the ethnographic museum with old weapons, instruments and photographs. The Ras el-Maa river runs through the old town and offers a quieter spot to rest. For lunch, the square has restaurants with terraces overlooking the city.
