If you want to swap city noise for desert calm—even just for an evening—this Agafay tour is a real reset. You’ll ride camels at sunset, eat classic Moroccan food under the stars, and get a taste of Berber hospitality you won’t forget.
The car picked us up right outside our riad just as the city was cooling off. You leave behind the Marrakech buzz fast—suddenly it’s just open land and that soft, dry desert air. Our driver chatted about his favorite spots along the way, and before long, those rocky hills of Agafay showed up on the horizon. The camp felt tucked away, almost hidden, with lanterns already glowing even though the sun was still out.
I’d never ridden a camel before—honestly, it’s bumpier than it looks! The camels were calm though, led by a local who joked about their personalities (apparently mine liked to stop for every bush). As we walked, you could see the sun dipping low, painting everything gold. There was this quiet out there I didn’t expect; even the wind sounded different. Back at camp, we got mint tea and little pastries—warm from the fire. Dinner happened under a big nomad tent: harira soup first (spiced but not too hot), then tagine bubbling away with beef and chicken, plus salads and fruit. Sitting around the fire after dark with stars overhead… honestly, it felt like time slowed down for a bit.
This experience is best for adults and older kids who can handle camel rides and uneven ground. It’s not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with back or heart issues.
Wear comfy clothes and closed shoes—sandals aren’t great for camel rides. Bring something warm; desert evenings can get chilly even after hot days.
The main dishes are beef and chicken tagine, but let us know ahead of time if you have dietary needs—we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Your evening covers round-trip transport from Marrakech in an air-conditioned car, a guided camel ride at sunset, welcome tea with pastries, full Moroccan dinner (harira soup, salads, beef & chicken tagine, seasonal fruit), plus coffee or tea around the campfire.
