You’ll ride camels in nomad gear, race quad bikes over desert trails, and share a traditional Berber dinner under the stars—plus hotel pickup makes it easy. If you want real Moroccan adventure beyond Marrakech’s busy streets, this is it.
The first thing that hit me stepping out of the van was the dry, earthy scent of the Agafay Desert—nothing like the city air back in Marrakech. Our guide, Youssef, handed us these light blue nomad scarves and showed us how to wrap them around our heads. It felt a bit silly at first, but honestly, it kept the sand out of my mouth once we got moving. The camels were waiting nearby, chewing lazily on some scrubby grass. Climbing on was easier than I thought, though the camel’s first lurch forward nearly made me drop my phone.
After a slow sway across the rocky dunes, we swapped saddles for quad bikes. The engine’s rumble echoed off the hills as we followed our guide up a dusty trail. At one point, a kid from a nearby village waved at us from his bike—he must’ve seen a hundred groups like ours, but he still grinned ear to ear. We stopped at a ridge just as the sun started dipping low, painting everything gold and pink. It got chilly fast; I was glad for my scarf.
Back at camp, lanterns flickered under a big Berber tent. Dinner started with fresh salad and warm bread—honestly, I could’ve eaten just that—but then came chicken tajine bubbling hot in its clay pot. There was live music too; two guys played drums and sang in Amazigh while we sipped mint tea. By the time dessert arrived (sweet oranges and dates), the sky was packed with stars. I remember thinking how quiet it felt out there, except for the soft laughter and the crackle of the fire.
Yes, it’s designed for all fitness levels and there are infant seats available if you need them. The guides are patient and helpful with everyone.
Wear comfy clothes you don’t mind getting dusty. Closed shoes are best for riding camels and quad bikes. You’ll get a nomad scarf to wear too.
The main meal is usually chicken tajine but let us know your dietary needs when booking—we can arrange vegetarian options with advance notice.
The tour lasts about half a day including pickup and drop-off. Expect to be back in Marrakech after dark.
You’ll get hotel pickup and drop-off in an air-conditioned minivan or minibus, all your quad biking gear, a camel ride (with nomadic dress included), bottled water and soda, plus a full Moroccan dinner with salad, tajine, fruit, and mint tea—all under a Berber tent in the desert.
