The experience
The trek starts in Oukaïmeden and follows mountain trails toward Tacheddirt on day one, passing through valleys and panoramic viewpoints before settling into a traditional mountain gîte. Day two takes you from Tacheddirt across a high mountain pass toward Ibbassen, where you spend another night in local accommodation. On the final day, you hike from Ibbassen through Timichi and into the Ourika Valley, arriving in Setti Fatma where the trek ends. A private local mountain guide leads the route throughout, and mules carry your luggage so you walk unencumbered.
The gîtes are small, traditional places run by local families, not hotels. Meals are cooked locally and eaten with the communities you pass through, which is how the trek stays connected to the people and valleys rather than isolated from them. Your guide knows the area and its villages, so the stops and the pace can shift based on what the group needs and what is happening in the communities along the route. This is a private experience, meaning no other groups join you.

Is this one for you?Three full days means you commit to the mountains and cannot split time between trekking and exploring towns. If your schedule allows only a day or two in the High Atlas, a shorter trek works better. If you have the time, this length reaches villages and valleys that day trips do not.
