The experience

The day starts with a drive along the Riviera, climbing to a viewpoint above Sveti Stefan: an exclusive resort island with distinctive architecture that sits on the Adriatic. From there you'll visit Rezevici Monastery, a complex built around 1226 and protected by UNESCO, where you can walk through two churches known for their frescoes and explore the monastery gardens. The route then climbs to Petrovacka Gora for more coastal views before heading inland toward Skadar Lake.

Virpazar, the old fishermen's village where the lake cruises depart, sits in the Skadar Lake National Park and is nicknamed "the town on three bridges." From here you board a boat for a one-hour trip across the lake, where the water is home to endemic fish and plant species and serves as a major stopover for migratory birds: the reason locals call it the International Birds Airport. The boat moves slowly enough to watch the wildlife without rushing past it.

After the boat trip, you have an hour of free time to eat fish specialties at restaurants on the lake banks or elsewhere in Virpazar. The return journey to Budva takes a different route through scenic landscapes. The car is air-conditioned and stocked with fresh water. Your guide speaks English and handles all the logistics of the day.
