The experience
The tour starts at Tara River Canyon, where the guide takes you to the deepest point of Europe's deepest gorge. From there the route climbs through Canyon Sušica, one of Durmitor's most striking canyons with hiking trails that cut through it. You stop in the village of Trsa halfway through, where a local meal and aperitives break the drive. This is where you eat, not a restaurant stop. The guide knows the region through seven years of organizing these tours and shares stories about the landscape as you move through it.
The second half circles back through mountain passes and peaks. You reach an amazing viewpoint above Piva Canyon where the water runs sky-blue, then climb to one of Durmitor's most majestic peaks and Sedlo Pass, a peak with a distinctive shape. The tour ends at a small alpine lake fed by a spring. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the pace is relaxed. The guide describes this as informative but not rushed, built around showing guests the region authentically rather than racing through stops.
