The experience

Cricova is built like an underground city: hundreds of kilometers of tunnels carved beneath the surface, lined with wine bottles. The tour takes you through the maturation section where wines age in the cellars, then into the sparkling wine production area to see how the bottles are made. You'll visit the National collection and tasting rooms, and there's an underground cinema on the grounds. The first winery tasting includes three wines paired with nuts and biscuits.

Milestii Mici holds the Guinness World Record for the world's largest wine collection: more than 1.5 million bottles stored in its own vast underground facility. The excursion covers the wine cellars and the collection itself, followed by a tasting of three more wines. Appetizers (bruschetta with aubergine cream, bruschetta with zacusca, and bruschetta with cream cheese and prosciutto) come with the tasting, and you receive a bottle of Univers wine as a gift.

A professional guide in English or Russian leads both sites and handles all logistics: hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you don't arrange transport yourself. The day runs about six hours total. Bring warm clothes: the cellars stay cool year-round.
