A combined fishing and cooking activity in Zihuatanejo where you sail into open water to fish for sailfish, dorado and marlin, then take your catch to a beachside restaurant to see how the kitchen prepares it. Hotel pickup is included, and a bilingual guide stays with you throughout. Water and beer are provided on the boat.

The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel or house, then heads to the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo pier where you board for open water. Once offshore, you fish for sailfish, dorado, marlin and other species in licensed deep-sea grounds. The bilingual guide works with you the entire trip, and the boat carries bottled water and beer. When the catch is landed, you don't head back to port, instead you sail to one of the famous beaches: Las Gatas, La Isla or La Madera, where local restaurants wait.

At the restaurant, you watch the kitchen prepare your fish. This is not a cooking class where you handle the knife. It's a chance to see how the catch of the day becomes a meal, standing in the restaurant while the chef works. You'll also see Zihuatanejo downtown and the Zihuatanejo pier during the day. The whole experience runs most of a day, and the boat's water and beer keep you hydrated between the fishing and the meal.
