The Experience

Xcaret sits 45 minutes south of Cancun, nestled where jungle meets the Caribbean. The day starts with hotel pickup in Cancun and a drive to the park entrance. Once inside, you move between water and land attractions at your own pace: swim in the underground rivers with snorkeling equipment and life jackets provided, explore cenotes, float on tires through cave passages, and wade into natural pools. The park spreads across jungle terrain, so walking between stops is part of the rhythm—trails connect the Mayan archaeological zones, the beach, and the river entrances.

Lunch is a buffet meal included in the ticket, served at one of the park's restaurants. One beer comes with it; other drinks are unlimited. By afternoon, the cultural side of the day takes over. You watch live Mariachi performances and folk art demonstrations, then head to Villa Maya as evening arrives. There, Pre-Hispanic dances mark the transition to night—performers in traditional dress act out ceremonial scenes. The day closes with Mexico Espectacular, a theatrical production on the Gran Tlachco stage where more than 300 artists perform dances, music and historical scenes spanning Mexican culture. The show runs after dark and is included in the tour price.

Transport back to your Cancun hotel is included. The tour operator sends a boarding pass that you must print before arrival—bring a photo ID and a screenshot of the cardholder's ID (the cardholder must be the lead traveler and present in the park). Children ages 5 and up pay a child price; ages 12 and over pay adult price. Kids under 4 ride free on a lap; children between 3.2 and 4.6 feet tall pay the child rate regardless of age. Infants must be registered at booking to ride the transport.
