The Experience

Three hours of paddling starts before the crowds arrive. You'll launch into quiet lagoons and mangrove channels where birds and wildlife are most active at sunrise, moving through the reserve with a local kayak guide who knows the waterways. The guide introduces you to the mangrove ecosystem as you paddle—how it functions, what lives in it, why it matters—and teaches basic paddling technique along the way so you're comfortable in the kayak from the start.

The kayaks are sit-on-top models authorized under federal permits for the reserve. You get a life jacket, paddle and all safety equipment; the guide handles navigation and interpretation. Small group size keeps the experience unhurried and away from the typical tour boat traffic. Bring at least a liter of water per person, sun protection and water shoes or sandals; snacks are optional.
