A sandboarding class at Dunes of Samalayuca near Chihuahua where you learn the sport with an instructor's help and practice on your own board. A guide explains the dunes' geology and sandboarding history before you take to the slopes for two hours. Equipment, park entry and water are provided. You choose whether to add transportation from your hotel.

The experience

You get your own sandboard, goggles and wax, plus entry to the ecological park. A guide walks through the landscape's history and how sandboarding works, then an instructor helps you practice on the dunes themselves. The two-hour session is built for all ages and fitness levels, so whether you've never stood on a board or you're coming back for more, the pace adjusts to where you are.

Bring your own food and drinks. There's time built in to rest and eat while you take in the view. An ice bucket with water keeps you cool between runs. If you book the transportation option, pickup happens from your hotel. Without it, you arrange your own way to the dunes. Children from age 6 are welcome, and the guide speaks Spanish throughout.
